Family Beach Photos on Hilton Head
Caroline reached out with a last minute request for family beach photos. They are a foster family and didn't know if they'd be able to get away. As it turned out, they could, and would be joining their extended family group for a week on Hilton Head. "We don't need anything extravagant," she said. "Just beach photos of each family and all together, and probably grandparents with grandkids," she requested. Well! I can always find time to photograph wonderful families so I was thrilled to make this happen for them.

Hilton Head Island photography requires a bit of flexibility. Summer plans change, airlines can cause delays, work schedules shift, and travelers need accommodating. This was true of the Mott family when they had some unexpected changes and their big group vacation with all ten family members became a smaller group of six. Caroline reached out and I was happy to accommodate the change. And one thing I love about being a Hilton Head family photographer--no matter the group size or changes to plans, the photos will always be beautiful. That's because our landscape is always breathtaking and the families I photograph are always the most fun, happy people.
Hilton Head Family Photoshoot Beach Ideas
There are so many options for family photoshoot beach ideas at this particular Hilton Head beach. It's quite a varied landscape in a small span. There are the sandy beach and ocean waves, of course. But there are also large rocks and boulders to climb on at low tide. There is a beautiful tree line with lush, green vegetation that filters the sunset light so beautifully. And there are also low sandy dunes with sea grass that you can walk on and pose in, unlike other dunes on Hilton Head.
Advice from a Hilton Head Photographer
I'm often asked as a Hilton Head photographer, what the best time of day for a session is and what to wear. Most definitely, the best time of day for a session is during the "golden hours" after sunrise or before sunset when the sky is low and golden. As for what to wear, I think every family should wear what they feel most comfortable and confident in. Lighter colors and breezy fabrics photograph so beautifully on the beach as well.
For example, Caroline's dress was AMAZING. I loved the blue floral print and billowy skirt. It was so perfect and the pattern provided some interest amidst the solid colors everyone else was wearing. So don't shy away from patterns!
